The 60:40 split second row bench seat and 50:50 split third row seats offer a range of versatile seating configurations.

To revive after long trips, passengers can lie back and enjoy the flat folding function or make use of the variety of drink holders. The third row seats flip entirely for spectator viewing out of the rear of the vehicle when stationary.

Whether you are carrying a carload of passengers, or bulky cargo, seating configuration can be easily manipulated to suit specific requirements – making sure any load is a comfortable load.

Performance

Grandis comes equipped with a 2.4 litre MIVEC, 16-valve engine specifically designed for performance and responsiveness, loaded with Mitsubishi’s most innovative technologies that maximise economical performance.

Lightweight aluminium replaces traditional engine parts, saving on weight and provides greater durability, heat dispersion, fuel consumption, increased power and torque.

With added sporty performance derived from the INVECS II ‘Smart Logic’ transmission, with ‘Sports Mode’ gearshift, the Grandis offers a quiet ride with variable valve timing that adjusts to various driving conditions

ENGINE POWER

Mitsubishi’s MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing and lift Electronic Control) engine technology utilises a lightweight variable timing mechanism that perfectly matches engine performance to driving conditions.

At low revs Grandis uses MIVEC technology to increase torque while maintaining traction, even on slippery roads. At high revs the engine intelligently adapts to increase the flow of air to the cylinders, thus increasing power.

This has the advantage of delivering exceptional fuel economy, low exhaust emissions, a quiet drive and superior acceleration and overtaking ability. With 120kW power output, the MIVEC engine gives the Grandis exceptional acceleration not usually found in larger people movers.

Invecs II ‘Smart Logic ’ automatic transmission

Grandis features Mitsubishi’s acclaimed Intelligent and Innovative Vehicles Electronic Control System (INVECS II) ‘Smart Logic’ 4-speed automatic transmission with ‘Sports Mode’ sequential gear shifting.

INVECS II ‘Smart Logic’ transmission system has an onboard computer that learns each driver’s preferences by recording engine, steering and foot braking data. The control logic then adapts the gearshift timing to suit the driver’s style, while minimising torque fluctuations for effortless acceleration and a more predictable ride.

‘Sports Mode ’ automatic transmission

When ‘Sports Mode’ is engaged this unique transmission delivers a responsive, sporty and dynamic performance that allows for superior acceleration and overtaking.

The innovative gearshift turns your regular automatic into a responsive clutchless manual by allowing the driver to simply push the lever forward to go up a gear or pull it back to shift down a gear.

Clutch-free operation improves responses by reducing the rev and torque loss associated with disengaging and engaging gears, allowing every driver to experience Grandis’ advanced performance.

Safety

The excitement of driving performance is nothing without peace of mind. Grandis offers comprehensive active and passive safety features to keep you and your passengers at ease, including RISE body design, ABS, EBD, 6 SRS airbags and ELR seatbelts. Grandis VRX also features rear parking assistance with four sensors to warn you of obstacles when reversing.

Driver and passenger safety is enhanced by 6 SRS airbags. Grandis comes standard with dual-stage driver and front passenger SRS airbags, and standard side (first row seats) and extended curtain airbags (first and second row seats) protect occupants in the event of a side impact. A collapsible steering column, side-impact beams and anti-intrusion brake pedals have been designed to minimise harm in the event of an accident.

3-point Emergency loc king Retractor (ELR) seatbelts

These seatbelts provide better head and chest protection for the driver and front passenger. Front ELR seatbelts are equipped with height-adjustable anchors, pretensioners and force limiters. Second row seats are equipped with three 3-point ELR, and Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) seatbelts enabling baby capsules to be fitted securely.

RISE BODY DESIGN

Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) monocoque body design combines an energy-absorbing front section with a strong, rigid occupant cell to provide outstanding protection in the event of an accident.
