Ralliart is a key division within Mitsubishi which aims to deliver rally car performance to every day road cars. The stripes of the Ralliart brand have to be earned, with vehicles needing to measure up to very strict criteria before they can be allowed to wear the badge. Ralliart vehicles must have significantly improved performance in a number of key areas such as engine output, braking, suspension and body dynamics, all combining to give a total driving experience.

The Lancer Ralliart Sportback and sedan have earned the right to carry the Ralliart mark. Sharing the same performance and control technology, these 2 variants differ only in terms of body shape. Both vehicles benefit from their close relationship to Lancer Evolution, the pinnacle of Mitsubishi’s engineering excellence, and deliver powerful performance with precise control.

Thrilling performance is delivered through a turbocharged MIVEC engine and the latest Twin Clutch Sport Shift Transmission (TC-SST) for splitsecond gear shifting. To reign in the power, the Lancer Ralliart vehicles feature the sophisticated All Wheel Control (AWC) system. Originally developed for Lancer Evolution, AWC is made up of 3 independent systems working together and operated via the vehicle's ECU. The systems are Active Centre Differential (ACD), Active Stability Control (ASC) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD).

MITSUBISHI MULTI COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (MMCS)

MMCS* is an integrated communication and media system that provides satellite navigation, audio control, DVD function and a host of other features, controlled via the 7” full colour in-dash touch screen.

In addition to iPod connectivity, available with a dealer fitted accessory, and integration with the 9-speaker Rockford Fosgate® Premium Audio System, MMCS allows you to customise features such as dusk sensing headlamp sensitivity, wiper speed, and room lamp shutdown delay.

You can also access your mobile phone via the touch screen thanks to Bluetooth® mobile phone integration.

ROCKFORD FOSGATE® PREMIUM AUDIO SYSTEM

Available as an option, the Rockford Fosgate® Premium Audio system is designed to provide crystal clear, low-distortion fidelity to make any type of music come to life. A 6 stacker CD player,* with MP3 compatible auxiliary input and 9-surround sound speakers, including a 10-inch subwoofer, delivers impressive sound through a 650 watt system.

AUTO RAIN SENSING WIPERS

A sensor automatically detects moisture on the windscreen, activating the front wipers, allowing you to keep your hands on the wheel and stay focused on the road ahead. This feature is especially handy when it’s raining intermittently.

DUSK SENSING HEADLAMPS

Dusk sensing headlamps do the thinking for you. Your lights automatically come on when it gets dark outside or when you’re travelling through a tunnel.

CLEVER TECHNOLOGY SMART KEY

Smart Key is Mitsubishi’s advanced security transmitter, giving you completely key-less operation. With Smart Key, Lancer Ralliart can recognise you within a 70cm radius of the front doors and boot lid. You can lock and unlock the doors, open the boot and even start the engine, all whilst the Smart Key is still tucked in your pocket or bag.

PADDLE SHIFTERS

Take command of the driving experience in a whole new way with Lancer Ralliart’s rally inspired paddle shift system. Built directly into the steering wheel, they provide the thrill of total control of your TC-SST without taking your hands off the steering wheel.

Inside, Lancer Ralliart blends a sports performance feel with a cabin that is both spacious and flexible. There’s plenty of load space in the rear, aided by 60/40 split folding rear seats, in addition to loads of clever compartments throughout the cabin to keep your valuables neatly hidden away. The interior features a geometric check print across the instrument panel, door panel, shift panel, and console. It also includes Ralliart trimmed sports seats, alloy pedals, leather wrapped sports steering wheel, leather wrapped gearshift knob and paddle shifters.

Performance

TWIN CLUTCH SPORT SHIFT TRANSMISSION (TC-SST)

The Lancer Ralliart range features Mitsubishi’s new TC-SST technology, which provides split-second gear shifting and instant response. It uses 2 input gear shafts that house 1st, 3rd, 5th and Reverse on one shaft, and 2nd, 4th and 6th gears on another - each of which are connected to an electronically controlled clutch. This allows consecutive gears to be preloaded in advance to offer quicker shift times. The TC-SST operates in 2 modes: Normal mode is the default at engine start and is generally used for day-to-day driving. Sport mode is the optimal choice for sporty driving. Gear changes and accelerator response are quicker than Normal mode.

ALL WHEEL CONTROL SYSTEM (AWC)

Thanks to the sophisticated AWC system, the Lancer Ralliart range allows you to drive in ways you didn’t think were physically possible. The AWC system is made up of 3 independent systems working together and operated via the vehicles ECU to give you handling that defies belief.

Active Centre Differential (ACD)

The ACD determines the optimal torque split between the front and rear axles. It then distributes this through the hydraulic multi-plate clutch. The ACD works in three modes – tarmac, gravel and snow – to enable quicker control response for changes in road surfaces.

Active Stability Control (ASC) and Active Traction Control (ATC)

To maintain stability and control when cornering, ASC automatically recognises understeer and oversteer. It applies brake pressure to the appropriate wheels to keep you on line and in control. In addition, ATC automatically controls and improves stability and acceleration by minimising wheel spin, maintaining traction at all times even in the most slippery conditions.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)

To give you further confidence while driving, ABS helps the driver maintain steering control and avoid hazards by adjusting braking pressure to prevent the wheels from locking up under hard braking or during an emergency stop. EBD helps you stay in control when carrying heavier loads, by distributing braking force between the front and rear wheels to ensure optimum braking and reduce stopping distance.

Exhilaration behind the wheel; it’s been the philosophy of every generation of Lancer. It all starts with a powerful and efficient engine. The new Lancer Ralliart range features the latest turbocharged version of the renowned MIVEC (Mitsubishi’s Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control) engine.

TURBOCHARGED MIVEC ENGINE

Cast from aluminium, the lightweight 2.0 litre turbocharged MIVEC Engine produces 177kW of power and 343Nm of torque. The turbocharger features a titanium turbine wheel to deliver quick response at low revs.

The internal components are reinforced to withstand the high levels of turbo boost created. The engine pistons are gravity castings made from high strength and lightweight aluminium, giving the motor exceptional durability.

The MIVEC system utilises a direct-acting valvetrain for additional weight reduction and optimal power, and also operates on the exhaust valves as well as the intake valves. The benefit of this is an increase in fuel efficiency and lower emissions across the engine's operating range.

To output the emissions is a stainless steel exhaust manifold that’s been rear mounted to decrease weight over the front wheels. In turn, this new mounting point removes the need for a ‘saddle-shaped’ front suspension cross member, with a flat cross member in its place. This design offers greater strength and functionality, giving the engine a lower mounting point, reducing the centre of gravity while improving stability.

Power means nothing without control. Lancer Ralliart’s advanced handling and stability should come as no surprise. Incorporating the lessons of the racetrack and rally stages, Lancer Ralliart fuses quick-responding suspension with a rigid body construction for confident high performance driving.

HIGH PERFORMANCE SUSPENSION

The high performance suspension in the Lancer Ralliart has been loaded with features resulting in reduced body roll, delivering outstanding handling through corners. It has been toughened up with stabiliser bars front and rear, stiffer springs for better spring rates and increased dampening.

The front and rear suspension is as effective as it is high tech – MacPherson struts up front and the rear multi-link independent system help keep you in control.

Both vehicles are equipped with large 2 piston front brake calipers providing controlled stopping power. The brake booster further increases stopping power, especially for emergency situations. All of this is matched with a muscular set of 18” 10-spoke alloy wheels and high performance tyres for improved grip, cornering and overall stability.

The suspension is made more rigid thanks to the incorporation of a front strut tower brace under the bonnet for more precise, directional handling and enhanced driving performance.

RIGID BODY AND SUBFRAMES

The Lancer Ralliart body has been reinforced at key points to minimise bending and twisting, keeping everything smoothly on track through strength and stability. The flat front sub-frame helps resist flexinducing forces, helping to keep all 4 wheels in constant contact with the road for impressive grip.

MIVEC ENGINES

The Lancer range features two powerful yet fuel efficient MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing and Electronic Control) engines. ES and VR models feature a 2.0 litre engine while VRX and Aspire models deliver more power thanks to the 2.4 litre engine. MIVEC offers the latest technology in the form of a lighter engine with intelligent valve timing technology to deliver excellent fuel efficiency and lower emissions, while providing improved drivability. It matches your driving style to minimise fuel consumption at lower revs, while increasing airflow at high revs for greater power and performance.

CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) WITH SPORTS MODE

CVT automatic transmission is electronically integrated with MIVEC to ensure Lancer is operated in the best gearing for optimum revs. This ensures maximum power, excellent fuel economy and a smoother ride with seamless gear changes.

The transmission’s advanced INVECS-III adaptive shift control system even tailors its response to your driving habits. The on-board computer learns and adapts to your preferences by recording engine and foot braking data. The control logic then adapts the automatic gearshift timing to suit your driving style. That makes for a better driving experience – and a more efficient one.

Sports Mode allows you to switch from the ease and convenience of an automatic to the control and performance of a manual. Combine this with paddle gear shifters in VRX and Aspire for sporty, lightning fast gear changes. Driving just got a whole lot more fun.

RESPONSIVE 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION

Driving enthusiasts may opt for the sporty performance of the smooth-shifting 5-speed manual transmission that offers the excitement of hands-on performance and control. This precisely tuned system features keyless synchronisers on all gears to achieve a superior shift-feel and tighter gear ratios. (Not available in Aspire).

SUPPLEMENTARY RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) AIRBAGS

To provide ultimate protection in the event of a collision, Lancer Ralliart is equipped with seven SRS airbags; driver and front passenger airbags, a driver knee airbag, and side and curtain airbags. In some head-on accidents, the driver knee airbag stabilises the driver’s legs and lower body. This allows the other airbags to do their job of protecting the upper body even more effectively.

SEATBELT PRETENSIONERS AND FORCE LIMITERS

Designed to work in conjunction with the SRS airbags, the driver and front passenger seatbelts feature pretensioners and force limiters, which combine to help protect you in the event of an accident. The pretensioners instantly draw back the belt, maximising restraint, while force limiters help reduce the sudden impact on you and your passengers.

ANTI-INTRUSION PEDAL SYSTEM

In the event of a front-on collision the brake pedal automatically moves away from the driver, protecting the legs and feet from injury.

REINFORCED IMPACT SAFETY EVOLUTION (RISE) BODY

Mitsubishi’s next-generation RISE body system combines an energy-absorbing front section with a strong, rigid occupant cell to provide outstanding protection in the event of an accident. Crushable zones teamed with a straight frame chassis and octagonal section frames are designed to absorb and dissipate energy from the passenger compartment. The body provides superior torsional rigidity and restricts bending. In addition, curved floor panels reduce vibration and further add to body strength, keeping you and your passengers protected in the event of an accident.

SECURITY

To ensure your vehicle’s security, a comprehensive advanced security system has been fitted to each Ralliart model. A multitude of motion sensors including tilt, shock and glass break sensors are linked to an alarm. In addition, Microscopic DataDots sprayed throughout your Ralliart make it virtually impossible to remove your vehicle’s DNA and easy for authorities to identify your Ralliart.
